Recognize by ear these rhythms:

bembé (2 2 1 2 2 2 1)bembe 12-8

fume-fume (2 2 3 2 3) fume fume rhythm

bembe and fume fume are complimentary
LHS bembé (2 2 1 2 2 2 1) and RHS rotated fume fume (2 3 2 2 3)

NOTE: This figure shows a figure-ground reversal for above two rhythms (RH rhythm is on exactly the points where LH rhythm is empty). This figure-ground reversal results in a rotation of fume fume; starting at point 6, you get the standard pattern of (2 2 3 2 3)

Ghanaian rhythms:

Gahu (4-4, 16 beat pattern -- bell is "tresillo" (repeated 1st half of clave):

Agbekor (slow) (12-8 bembe bell pattern with lower pitched bell on beat 1)

Agbekor (fast) (12-8 faster bembe bell pattern without differentialted 1st beat)

Adzrowo patterns (12-8, uses fume fume bell pattern):
